We kick off Ballarat Cup day with some handy 3yo's, none more so than MALDINI (2) who got the blinkers applied last start at Cranbourne and sprinted quickly to beat a decent field over this distance, scoring by 1.5 lengths. He maps for every chance again here and a repeat of last start goes a long way to winning this. MOSTLY FOR SHOW (4) broke through for a solid win last time at Morphettville, notching up his maiden to win a series final nonetheless. Off that run he should appreciate 1400m and take holding out. WRIGLEY FIELD (5) is a progressive sort who has won 2/3 this time in, handling conditions best here last time for a tough win. Likely concedes a start but will be finishing strongly. VEGA FOR LUCK (1) has been up a long time in an interesting campaign. He was well behind Maldini last time and needs to find his best, but that level would go close. Wary of SAVANNAH CHILL (7) first up who has ability.
