Verdict

Sparingly raced five-year-old VERBIL (9) returned from a long spell with a barnstorming win over 1200m at Scone a fortnight ago. Will go back from a wide gate which is a slight concern around Canterbury, but a hot tempo should offset that. Can take this next step and win for the fourth time in only six appearances. BROADWAY BOUNCER (1) is back after a five-month spell. Consistent performer when last in work in better races than this. A couple of sound recent trails will have him forward enough to run well. SPIRITS BURN DEEP (13) disappointed in open company at Canberra recently on the back of a dominant win at Goulburn. Worth another chance down on the limit weight. DEBELLO (7) ran a much better race last start at the Kensington track and should be peaking at the third run back. OUR QUEEN (11) is back from a spell and lines up for just the fourth time. Has won at both previous first-up runs and recent trial form suggests she is very forward in condition.
