Goodwood

Friday, May 2, 2025FlatClass 21m

Of the 2 unbeaten colts arriving in search of a hat-trick, marginal preference is for AMILOC who clocked an impressive sectional time when running down a useful colt at Kempton last year. Secret Theory looked to have plenty of speed when making it 2-2 at Nottingham last month and he could be a serious danger. Of the rest, Noble Champion faced a tough task in the Greenham and back down in class, he may have more to offer on his first try over 1m.

Unbeaten Dubawi colt created a good impression landing 12-runner maiden at Newmarket (7f) in October. Confirmed himself as a smart prospect on his first 3-y-o outing, readily quickening clear to win a Nottingham novice (8.3f) 20 days ago. Unexposed and unlikely we've seen the best of him yet.

Night of Thunder colt stepped forward from debut win when third in a much deeper race at Newmarket (7f) 15 days ago, held every chance 2f out but one paced late on. Should stay the mile and may well have more to offer.

Had a bit in hand when making a winning debut at Kempton (7f) and was strong in the finish when following up in 13-runner novice at the same course (8f) in September, beating a useful sort. That performance was backed up by the clock and he has leading claims with further progress to come.

Haydock novice winner last season but was put in his place in Group company on final outing last year. Looked much more at home back in calmer waters when second to another useful colt in a 5-runner conditions race at Kempton in March. Should give another good account.

    Verdict
Strong in the betting on both maiden starts, leaving his debut run behind quickening clear to win on Lingfield's AW (7f) in November. Faced with a tough task in the Greenham on his reappearance last month but this looks a more realistic assignment on his first try over 1m.

Persian King colt who was gambled on and made an impressive winning start in on debut at Newmarket in October but failed to live up to that promise when a disappointing fourth in a conditions race over the same C&D 15 days ago (Al Arbeed back in third). Too soon to write him off yet.
