DEPUTIZE (9) caught the eye when resuming from a ten-month spell over 1200m at Gosford last start, coming from last on the bend to get up for third. Will go back from the wide draw but with a much longer run home at Newcastle he can round them up. OAKFIELD DUKE (3) went close first-up at the Beaumont track then gave away too much start when well beaten over this trip at Canterbury last time out. Has won twice from three tries over this course and distance and his third-up record is strong. This looks a lovely race for him. TOTOKA (12) is back from a 20-week spell. Has won two from four when fresh and a strong second in a recent 1000m trial at the Beaumont circuit suggests she is forward enough to run another big race here. BROADWAY BOUNCER (1) returns from a brief spell. Struggled a bit last prep in better races than this. Well placed for this return so expect a decent performance. APACHE BREEZE (5) was very good in a Rosehill Midway last Saturday. Loves racing here so must go in.
