ALPHARD (6) gritty effort on debut when held up badly in the straight to finish an unlucky fourth over 1200m at Canterbury. Never fully tested on debut and expected to take holding out here on the firmer surface. SAPLING (10) rewarded for her consistency third up when a commanding on pace winner over 1300m at Wyong. Has a clear fitness edge over these and can slide across from the wide gate. Goes close. ROYAL AIR FORCE (7) back for his second prep and expecting a more furnished colt. Raced greenly on debut when a poor twelfth over 1250m at Canterbury last February. Fitted with the two good trials and the blinkers get added. Respect. SPICE PRAWN (11) back for her second prep after running respectable races in town last March. Given the two solid trials and look for her late from the sticky draw. I SHOW SPEED (4) speedy Canberra-trained gelding who demolished his rivals on debut over 1080m at Canberra Acton. Further improved and not to be underestimated.
