MAGIC CARPET (3) caused an upset when winning the Hawke's Bay Guineas at Te Rapa 5 weeks ago, getting in the final strides to score by nearly a length. He has trialled in the clockwise direction, and can repeat the dose, just don't expect more fancy money. HE WHO DARES (2) is a very progressive colt who was runner-up by a head at Ellerslie in a strong version of the Sir Colin Meads Trophy at Listed level 8 weeks ago. Opie Bosson steps into the irons for the first time, and the pair will be hard to hold out. KYGO STAR (8) was narrowly beaten at Taupo on debut and then lifted late to score by a nose at Avondale last time out on a very heavy track. This race is a big step up in class, but he does have the pole position and has the scope to go on with the job. LANDLOCK (1) was a beaten favourite in the Hawke's Bay Guineas at Te Rapa behind the top pick last start. He would prefer a firmer surface to the one he struck that day, and he can finish a lot closer this time. Follow your money.
