FLYING CELICA (10) gets the nod after a sound fourth in a BM58 over 1600m at Sunshine Coast, beaten a length and a half by Kobability, and that reads well for this slightly easier BM55 assignment. Her 1400m record is not dominant, but she has placed at the distance, handles soft ground and brings the most reliable recent provincial form of the main hopes. IMAREALAMERICAN (16) was second in an Open at Tabulam, beaten a length after an early blunder, and his consistent 1400m placing record keeps him right in play. OAKFIELD MONTANA (14) bounced back sharply to win an FM BM58 at Ipswich, has won at this trip and keeps the same rider, so she has the right profile to hold that form on the quick back-up. KHARIF (5) finished fourth last start, beaten 6 lengths at Ipswich over 1666m. Looks one of the genuine hopes in the race.
