APHELION (9) brings the most appealing recent Class 1 form, with fourths at this track and Dubbo both reading well for a BM50 despite awkward beginnings at each run. He is still chasing his first win, but the drop in grade and his ability to keep finding the line make him the one to beat. BILL PEYTO (5) has been below his best in two BM58 runs, yet he is far better suited back around 1600m, where his record is much stronger, and wet-track experience is in his favour. HARRIET (8) was unwanted in betting but charged home after interference when fourth in a BM58 at this venue, and third-up fitness gives her a genuine chance to build on that. FIRESTORM BOY (3) has been plain at his past two, but he was respected in the market last week and his broader 12-month record keeps him in the mix as a place chance if he sharpens up.
