Verdict

HALF MOON ROO (16) is hard to go past after a strong start to the prep here. The wide draw is the only query but she should be hitting her straps now and with a touch of luck she can get the job done. DECORATIVE (8) has to rebound from a poor first-up performance, but she did have excuses after jumping awkwardly and racing wide. A comfortable trial win between runs suggests she can go much better second-up, and Thompson's booking is a big push. GROENING (15) is lightly raced and has more to offer after getting off the mark last start at Rocky. Wiggins sticking is a plus. SALCHOW (7) was too bad to be true first-up and is one to keep in mind.

    Verdict
Brings the right recent form after winning a BM55 at this track two back, beating Copper Star by just over half a length, then running second over 1400m here on soft ground after leading to the turn. She is proven at this venue, has two wins from six starts at around 1200m and reunites with a rider who knows her well. Proven at 1200m, well in with the claim and looks the one to beat.

    Verdict
Finished last first-up in a FM Class 1 at this track, beaten five and a half lengths, but she jumped awkwardly and raced wide, so the margin is not the full story. She also had a tough wide run at Toowoomba before the break. Forgive the first-up last after a wide run; she can rebound strongly.

    Verdict
Was safely held first-up at Warwick, finishing second last and beaten just under nine lengths after beginning slowly, and this is stronger company than that country meeting. His previous run at Terang came before a break and was a fair fifth over 1606m. The wet-track win is a plus and Michael Rodd is a positive booking. Suspect he improves sharply with that run under his belt.

    Verdict
Closed off strongly for fourth at Gold Coast over 1000m, beaten three and a half lengths after beginning slowly, and the visual effort was better than the margin. She had been second to Zavega at Dalby the run prior after a wide run and hanging out near the turn. Recent 1000m runs have been solid enough for strong place claims.

    Verdict
Picked up fairly late when fifth at this track over 1000m, beaten just under two lengths at big odds after being tightened on jumping. His previous fourth at this venue came after difficulty getting clear near the 200m. Winning still looks a stretch.
