DAMA ROYALE (5) resumes from a spell of five-and-a-half months and while she could only manage seventh at the latest run over 1400m at Ballarat she was placed in a very strong metro maiden the start prior. Has had the benefit of two trials leading into this and should be ready to go. SNEAKY RUSSIAN (3) wasn't far away first up last start when fourth over 1000m at Pakenham Synthetic. Will definitely appreciate the longer journey with that run under the belt and shapes as a genuine threat. BLUE VALENTINE (4) finished second, beaten 1.3 lengths, when resuming from a spell last start over 1170m at Wangaratta after she was in the firing line on the bend. Likely improver with strong prospects. MOLVENO (7) was terrible first up, but had trialled nicely before that and gets blinkers here, so might be worth another chance.

VerdictResuming after a five-and-a-half months break. Finished off last campaign seventh of 13 at Ballarat Mdn-Sw April 3 over 1400m, 3.5 len behind Ole Royale with 57kg at $9.50. On debut third of 8 at Cranbourne Mdn-Sw January 3 over 1000m, 0.6 len behind Blue Akoya carrying 56kg at $3. Placed in much better races than this last time in, so this looks a good kick-off. - 3.
