Verdict

PURVIEW was only pushed out to win at this level at the Curragh last time and Dermot Weld's colt looks capable of defying a penalty and making it 4 wins in a row. Green Impact is highly respected after going close in the Ballyroan, whilst In My Teens and Thread of Gold both appeal as ones who should prove capable of making an impact in this better company.

Won sole start at 2 yrs and signed off last season with listed success at Cork (10.5f) in September. Made an excellent impression on return when also winning listed race at the Curragh (1½m) in May before following up in the International Stakes, only requiring hands-and-heels riding. Strong claims.

Highly tried since winning Golden Fleece as a 2-y-o but he did pick up a 9f listed race at Leopardstown last summer. Went close dropped in grade when a short-head second of 7 to Ethical Diamond in Ballyroan Stakes at this C&D (good to firm) 37 days ago. Can make an impact.

Made a winning start at the Curragh last year and built on reappearance to land 11-runner event on handicap debut at Leopardstown (9f, good to firm) in July. Overcame a 9 lb rise to follow up in an 18-runner race at Galway (1½m, soft) 3 weeks later and he looks well worth his place in this grade.

Winner in this grade over C&D last summer and didn't need to be at his best when defying a penalty in a Longchamp Group 2 (1¾m, good to firm, 8/5) 60 days ago. This looks a stronger race, though, and he has to concede weight again.

Picked up really well to win the Derby Trial at Leopardstown (1¼m, good) in May before finishing third in the Derby itself at Epsom. Clearly not 100% when soundly beaten in the Irish Derby and now steps outside of his age group having been gelded.

Appreciated the drop in grade when a winning listed contest at Windsor on final start in 2025. Below best at Goodwood on return but stuck to his task well having been used as a pacemaker when ½-length second of 4 to Rebel's Romance in Princess of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket (1½m) last time.

Galway maiden winner who was beaten 3¼ lengths in a blanket finish in Group 1 Criterium at Saint-Cloud (1m) on final juvenile start and made a solid return to action when 4 lengths third of 9 to Highwayman in listed race at this course (1¾m, good, 5/1) 23 days ago. This is tougher, though.

Has stepped forward with each run this season and showed a gutsy attitude to hold on to win the 6-runner Lillie Langtry Stakes at Goodwood (1¾m, good to firm) 42 days ago. Probably more effective over further, though.

Proved a different proposition upped to this trip when landing a valuable handicap at the Curragh in June. Unsuited by the way the race developed upped to this grade at Glorious Goodwood last time and it remains likely that she can make an impact at this level.

Stepped up on debut to win 1¼m Leopardstown maiden before a good second in listed race at Navan. Didn't do himself justice in Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot since (raced freely) but landing a blow here would require a clear step forward.

Smart dual-purpose performer who landed a Grade 3 hurdle last season and was successful twice at Dundalk in the winter. Probably flattered by having an easy lead when a length third of 7 to Ethical Diamond in the Ballyroan Stakes over C&D last month.
