RYE MANHATTAN (8) was in the market on debut back in May over 1400m at the Kensington track but didn't run on as hoped. Turned out after that run. Two trials in September should have her ready to make a bright return. LAST AFFAIR (5) settled midfield but lacked a turn of foot in the straight and finished fifth on debut over 1300m at the Illawarra Grange last time out. Likely to be more effective over this longer journey so he deserves another chance. PHLOX (2) ran on well on debut and finished ahead of Last Affair in that maiden at Illawarra Grange recently. Another who can improve with the step up in distance. CAVIAR (1) disappointed at the Kensington track last time but her form at the provincials prior to that will measure up.
