RIP CURRENT (5) worked across from a wide gate to stalk the leader then went home a shade too well in a 1400m Pakenham synthetic maiden last start. Appreciated that step up in trip so getting out further this time should hold no fears. Big chance to go back-to-back. VASALA (7) has led for home at his last two starts but been reeled in to miss the placings on each occasion. Those runs followed month-long breaks, but he backs up quicker this time. Gets a host of gear changes and might prove tough to catch pinging out of gate one. RIVERBEND GOLD (6) stretched out to the mile for the first time and comfortably took out a maiden at Albury a fortnight ago. Late bloomer who should kick on now. HOLD THIS (11) has started deep in the red but failed to win in two runs this prep. Goes from 1200m to 1600m off a six-week break which isn't ideal. Exotics only. BEARBRASSBLACKFISH (2) has been plain in two runs this prep but can improve at this stage of the prep.
