Verdict

STORMING HOME (7) goes on top in her first start for the stable. Couldn't threaten on debut back in Feb but looks to have come on well during the break and gets Thompson sticking from two trials. Bold showing anticipated. CAVALLUNA (14)'s debut effort at Doomben reads better than the finishing position, only beaten 1.6L after picking up nicely late. Is sure to improve with that run under his belt and gets 2kgs off with 200m extra to reel them in. I AM LOUIE (2) was also only warming late when resuming at Ipswich. Couldn't meet expectations there but if they can better utilise the low draw this time he can play a major role. SON'S OF FORTITUDE (9) ran a bold debut third at Doomben at big odds, only beaten a neck, and if he handles the rise to 1400m he has enough upside to land a winning blow.

Picked up nicely from the rear on debut at Doomben, finishing eighth but beaten only a length and a half by Tiny Light. There was no obvious excuse, yet the margin says he was much closer than the position suggests, and the weight relief helps second-up. Weight relief and added trip keeps him right in the hunt.

Finished off strongly for fourth at Lismore last start, beaten just over two lengths by Aurora Blaze after racing keenly through the middle stages. His debut second at Ipswich was also solid, so the two-run profile is sound for a maiden. Suspect this is a bit tougher, so he will need to improve.

    Verdict
Resumes after eight months off and has had two trials, with the latest Doomben third suggesting she is forward enough for this return. She was fourth on debut at Kembla Grange, beaten seven and a half lengths in a small field when among the outsiders, and now starts for a new stable in Queensland. Lightly raced, in a new stable and looks the one to beat.

Has placed at both starts, the latest when second at Sunshine Coast over 1200m on soft ground after coming from a long way back, beaten four lengths. She gets weight relief and should be fitter third-up, while the debut third at Pakenham Synthetic showed she has some closing ability. First go at 1400m but her splits suggest she will appreciate it.

    Verdict
Debuts for Tony Gollan after two Doomben trials, most recently finishing third over 1000m. The pedigree has depth, with a G3-placed half-sibling and a city-winning relation, and the stable has a solid record with first starters. Has the profile to run well first time out.

    Verdict
Made an excellent debut at Doomben when third to Tiny Light, beaten a neck at big odds after travelling well and letting down nicely. That effort also had him ahead of Cavalluna, who he meets again, and the weight relief strengthens his second-up case. If 1400m suits, he can win.

    Verdict
Returns from a two-month freshening after finishing sixth at Ipswich, beaten two and a half lengths as a well-supported favourite after getting too far back. He had earlier run third at Doomben on soft ground, beaten two lengths after being held up around the home turn. Proven competitive on wet tracks and drawn to get the right run, he remains a serious winning chance if sharper second-up. Appeals.

    Verdict
Debuts from the Tony Gollan stable after two trials, the latest a Deagon fourth over 1050m beaten 2.54 lengths. The trainer-sire figures are encouraging and Daniel Moor is booked, but there is no race form or sibling performance to lean on. Stronger claims sit elsewhere.

Lifted at Doomben last start when second to Imminent Appeal, beaten two lengths despite being unwanted in the market. That was a clear improvement on his Sunshine Coast run, where he was last and beaten over 10 lengths after racing keenly and wide. He has placed once from three tries around 1400m. Prefer others this time.

Came from a hopeless position for seventh at Sunshine Coast first-up, beaten eight and a half lengths after being hampered at the start, so there was some merit in the finish. He had been sixth at this track before a spell, beaten three and a half lengths at generous odds. Looking to others.

    Verdict
Debuts with first-time blinkers after winning a Deagon trial, which gives the market something to work with in a race where several have limited evidence. The lack of race experience is still a significant unknown, and his family profile offers little early reassurance. Worth keeping an eye on any late money moves.

    Verdict
Debuts for Chris Waller with first-time blinkers after three trials, the latest a Gold Coast fifth over 850m when beaten 7.30 lengths. His sale profile is notable, including a most recent $420,000 Ready to Run purchase, but the trial evidence is only measured. Watch for market intent.
