Verdict

GAMBLER (5) is the one to beat after putting together consecutive Sunshine Coast wins, the latest as an odds-on favourite when scoring from Heart And Spirit. He boasts a strong record around 1000m and keeps Marshall aboard who's two from two on him. No reason he can't bring up the hat-trick. THE FIXER (4) has struggled in his last two but should find this a bit easier and will get a tempo to suit. Thompson taking over is another good push. HEART AND SPIRIT (8) led the Gambler at big odds when resuming, only to be claimed late. Now meets him 2.5kgs better and can turn the tables. YOWERI (7) is hard to fault and finds another suitable contest. Gets in light with Youngberry's 2kg claim and only needs to hold his form to be right there again.

    Verdict
Arrives in winning form after making it two straight at Sunshine Coast, beating Heart And Spirit by just under a length as an odds-on favourite. That followed a BM70 win from Jimmy's Brother, so he has both current form and the right 1000m profile. Strong 1000m profile and winning rider back make him the one to beat.

    Verdict
Resumes after six months off and has been readied with an easy Gold Coast trial win. His last campaign ended with a last in a BM78 at Gosford after jumping awkwardly and being eased near the 100m, while his Randwick BM88 run before that was plain after settling back. Latest race form was plain, but fresh improvement gives him place claims.

    Verdict
Missed by only a head in a BM70 at Toowoomba last start after knuckling at the start, which adds merit to the run behind Howdoyouzou. He had won a BM68 at Ipswich two back, beating Meet George by half a length, and his season record reads two wins and two placings from four starts. Wide draw is the query, but the form is solid.

    Verdict
Had excuses only in a minor sense when seventh in an NMW at Gold Coast, jumping awkwardly and making contact before failing to finish off behind Spirit Of Barty. His previous BM78 run at this track was fair after racing keenly and wide. Recent efforts were below his best, but the Class 5 set-up gives him a strong rebound chance.

    Verdict
Returns from a lengthy spell after ending his last preparation with a fourth in a Class 6 over 1600m at this track, beaten two and a half lengths by Lupine after covering ground and picking up well. He had won a BM78 at this venue the run prior, beating Chamierro by a nose at generous odds. Freshness is the query, but he has claims.

    Verdict
Resumes after six months off and has trialled at Doomben last month. He ended last preparation as beaten favourite at Ipswich, fourth behind Click Click Boom after being bumped and having difficulty getting clear around the home turn. The start prior was a narrow second to Joy A Plenty. Last run had traffic, so he can be around the placings.

    Verdict
Ran well first-up at Sunshine Coast when second to Gambler, beaten just under a length at big odds after being run down late. She had won on the Sunshine Coast Poly at her previous start, and her last-12-month record shows she has been holding form consistently. Has to turn that result around, but the place profile is sound.

    Verdict
Returns from a lengthy spell after a sixth at Ipswich, where she was near the top of betting but kept on only fairly behind Bravely. Her prior Gatton BM60 win came by a nose over Helikedempretty after racing wide without cover, so there is some grit in the record. Others look better placed.

    Verdict
Returns from a four-month break with a close Gold Coast trial second behind her, which gives some readiness context. Her last run before the break was still disappointing, finishing last at Doomben after beginning awkwardly and racing wide, while the Gold Coast run prior was only fair. Must find more.
