QUINTABELLE (1) was too strong late over 1600m in the Winter Cup last week, and that race form always holds up when horses back up from the feature on the first day. She rises in weight, but that should not stop her from winning again. RIVIERA REBEL (2) fought on well enough in a tougher part of the track when finishing eighth in the Winter Cup, and he will cope with the extra 200m better than most in this. Stick with him on an each-way basis. ROYAL VALOUR (3) was a brave seventh in the Winter Cup, and he is nicely placed over 1800m this time. He is an honest gelding who will give another honest account of himself in this. Each way value. PROSERVE (5) was a deserved winner on a heavy track at Ashburton, and then bolted in on the poly track here a month ago. He is a month between runs, which worries us, but he can never be ruled out of a top 3 finish at this level. PRINCE ALBY (6) plugged away gamely for sixth in the Winter Cup, and he is right in this with each-way claims.
