Verdict

READY FOR AIMEE (11) is in good touch and finds another winnable assignment after getting the job done here at the midweeks. Has a strong association with the claimer Youngberry and the draw should give them every chance again CAFE AU LAIT (12) will be looking to rebound from a pair of plain recent efforts in Sydney, after making a promising start to the campaign. The peaks are there and she should get a good look from a favourable draw. ABENDER (6) shoulders a strong track record and should be hitting his straps fourth-up, though will need a clever steer from the gate. HE'S TRU BLUE (7) wasn't beaten far first-up at Eagle Farm and is sure to have come on from that, though Thompson will need to be on top of his game from the tricky draw. HEADHUNTER (18) continues to leave himself with too much to do but can cause a late scare if the pace is genuine.

Won with authority at this track last start, beating Maquisa by a length as a well-supported favourite after overcoming a hold-up on the home turn. That followed a beaten-favourite fourth in an FM BM65 at Eagle Farm, but she responded in the right style and returns to a proven setup. Proven track-and-trip profile makes her the one to beat.

Resumed with a solid fourth at Eagle Farm over 1200m on soft ground, beaten just over a length by Mercian after working into the race. His previous run came in a Quality at Eagle Farm, where he was third to State Opera on heavy ground and beaten just over half a length. Open to improvement second-up.

Returns from a five-week let-up after a strong third at this track, beaten half a length by Stanislaus after tracking up and finishing well. His run prior was only fair when seventh to Hurricane Lu, but he has a win and two placings from five at this track and distance and reunites with a rider who knows him well. Proven track-and-trip record and the right rider back give him claims.

Had excuses when fifth to Ready For Aimee at this track last start, racing wide yet still making ground to be beaten two and a half lengths. The Ipswich win prior in a BM65 was narrow but honest, beating Bluish Hue by a nose after leading. She is holding form and gets the winning rider back, though the latest result still leaves her with ground to make up on the main hope. Can entertain a minor spot.

Was plain when last in a BM78 at Warwick Farm on soft ground, beaten just over six lengths by Monte Kate after settling well back and only working home fairly. Her previous seventh at the Kenso was also below what the market expected, but she now finds a BM70 and has useful wet-track and distance credentials. Win won't shock.

Ran a good third in a CG BM78 at Gold Coast last start, finishing strongly from the rear and beaten just under a length by Metaphorically at generous odds. Before that he was a beaten favourite when fourth at Sunshine Coast after missing the start, only a neck from La Rosetta. The class relief is relevant, but he has not won in the past 12 months and must turn placings into a stronger finish. Will need a bit to go his way.

Has been building through two fourths at this venue, the latest in a Class 3 over 1200m when beaten just over two lengths by Spiethtacular after travelling in striking range. His previous fourth in a CG BM78 reads well enough for this, and he has three wins from nine starts at this track. The 1350m is the query, but his recent form rates highly for this.

Returns from a two-month freshening after a seventh at Sandown-Lakeside, where she was near the top of betting but lacked the dash to be competitive and was beaten four and a half lengths by Sapphire Siren. Her heavy-track third at Sandown-Hillside prior was distant but honest. Weight relief helps, but she has to transfer that profile to this venue.

Went close in a BM65 at Gold Coast last start, beaten just over half a length by Till Dusk as favourite after travelling handy and being pipped late. That was better than his eighth at this track two back, where he lacked a change of gears behind Stanislaus. Weight relief helps, but this is a tougher grade and barrier 21 makes the assignment more demanding. Looking to others.

Comes back from a BM78 at this track where he was seventh to Lockyer, beaten just under three lengths after having every chance and lacking a change of gears. His previous fourth behind Stanislaus was better, with a wide passage noted, but he again found one better late. Blinkers come off and he handles wet tracks, yet the winning strike-rate keeps him as a place prospect. Not going good enough.

Arrives in winning form after successive Toowoomba victories, most recently a BM65 win by a long neck over Straight Blast despite jumping awkwardly and striking interference in the straight. Two back she won a BM55 by a nose as favourite. Her 1350m record is strong and the winning rider stays aboard, but this is a class rise from provincial grade and she must prove it at this level. Sense this might be a touch too rich for her.

Returns from a lengthy spell after ending last preparation with a last of six at this track in a Class 5, beaten just under three lengths by Retainer as a well-supported favourite. He had been third here the start prior, beaten two lengths by Eclair Awesome, so there is some venue form in the book. Some venue form, but the final run last campaign was only fair.

Was safely held behind Ready For Aimee at this track last start, finishing sixth and beaten just under four lengths after having no clear excuse. The Sunshine Coast win prior in an FM Class 1 was honest, beating Shahar by a neck, but this is a tougher scenario and she remains unplaced from two runs at this venue. Others look stronger.

Held his ground for fourth in an Open at Lismore last start on soft ground, beaten a length and a half by Carravilla after sitting just off the lead. That was a better effort than his Eagle Farm fifth prior, where he was unwanted in betting and beaten six lengths by Precise Star. Place claims if he repeats that effort.

Returns from a two-month freshening after a seventh in a CG Class 1 at Ipswich, beaten two and a half lengths by Rochedale Hero after missing the start and being tightened early. Two back he was second last in a Class 3 at this track, where he raced keenly and was held up. Weight relief and a recent Doomben trial help, but his latest form still requires a clear lift. Unlikely.

Backs up quickly after a wide run at Gold Coast Poly, where he was beaten over 11 lengths by King Of Minto but had genuine excuses after jumping awkwardly and covering ground. His Eagle Farm run prior in a CG BM65 was also plain, finishing last after racing wide. The quick return is some help and he has placed at this track and distance, but a sizeable form turnaround is required. Happy to overlook.

Found winning form at Lismore last start, taking a Class 3 by a nose from Warrior Bae on soft ground after travelling well and being forced wide late. She is proven at this distance and has won at this venue, but the country-to-metro task is a much sterner test. Not this time.

Closed off well for fifth in a 1 Metro Win at Eagle Farm last start after beginning awkwardly, beaten two and a half lengths by Spaceballs. The run prior was a fourth in a CG BM78 at Gold Coast, though he had his chance behind the leaders and could not finish it off. The drop from those stronger grades helps, but he is unplaced in four starts this season and has to produce a sharper winning effort. Not this time.
