Verdict

ASTERN EFFORT (1) returned with a dominant maiden win at Doomben last month and followed it up with a strong effort in Saturday company on wet Eagle Farm deck. Perfectly placed back to a CL1 third-up and should prove tough to beat. STAR OF PARIS (7) got off the mark in style here last time when rounding up Veomas, who has since come out and won well on Tuesday. Has plenty of upside and will prove a handful to hold out if she can utilise the low draw. KADESKY (2) is knocking on the door with a hat-trick of thirds here to open the prep. Gun hoop Benny Thompson reunites for this fourth-up assignment. Should be making his presence felt. BENT BRIDGE (4) was plain behind Astern Effort last start, yet his earlier Eagle Farm third had excuses and his track-and-trip win keeps him in the minor-money mix.

Ran fourth in a BM65 at Eagle Farm last start, beaten a length and a half in Saturday company on heavy ground after being hampered at the start and racing keenly. That followed a Doomben Mdn win over 1200m, where he made up a stack of ground to beat Stellagracia. Peaking now and is ready to win again.

    Verdict
Made the right improvement third-up when winning a Mdn at this track last start, coming from well back to beat Veomas by half a length after being hampered early. She had been favourite at Beaudesert the run prior and was held up leaving the 500m before finishing fourth to Langan. Form around her has already stood up, so she should be making her presence felt again.

    Verdict
Has put three placings together this campaign and was close again in a BM65 at this track last start, finishing third to Swanfels over 1666m and beaten just under a length. He was also third in BM65 grade at this venue the start prior at generous odds. Proven around 1350m and drawn to get his chance, provided he finds a sharper finish.

Had no obvious excuse when seventh in a BM65 at Eagle Farm last start, beaten seven lengths by Gaultier in Saturday company and finishing behind Astern Effort. His previous Eagle Farm third had more merit, with interference on the home turn and a held-up moment near the 200m. Better judged on the prior Eagle Farm third.

    Verdict
Returns from a four-month break after closing last campaign with a Rockhampton Mdn win over 1600m, storming home from well back to beat Navy Kiss by just under a length. A Sunshine Coast Inner Track trial last month helps, but he is winless from four starts at this venue and has only two placings from five around 1350m. Trial adds some readiness, but his 1350m and track records leave him with work to do.
