SNIP OF GOSSIP (3) gets the nod after resuming in Saturday company at Belmont Park, where he was beaten just over five lengths in a 1MW at big odds. This is a kinder assignment, he strips fitter second-up, and the first-time blinkers plus the apprentice claim give him clear levers for improvement. LAND OF FIRE (7) also comes back in grade after a provincial CL3 run at Bunbury and has since trialled at Lark Hill, so he is entitled to show more despite the 1500m record remaining a genuine query. DASHING DIVA (5) has to rebound from a plain Carnarvon sixth, but returns to a distance where she has won and the gear change gives her a chance to sharpen. AH KUM (4) was only even at Northam over 2200m, yet his Bunbury fifth in CL1 company reads well enough for a minor-winning hope if the drop back to 1500m suits. MOLLY'S MY PAL (8) can feature in the finish.

Resumed in Saturday company at Belmont Park and was far from disgraced when seventh in a 3yo+ 1 Metro Win, beaten just over five lengths on soft ground after tracking handy and lacking a sharp finish. He was only just over two lengths from Shamister at Narrogin before the break, and now drops into easier company with blinkers on first time and a 2kg claim. Blinkers go on, apprentice claims, and this looks his race to win.

Was near the top of an open market at Northam last start but only worked home evenly when sixth in a 3yo+ Benchmark 50+ over 2200m, beaten just over five lengths. His previous Bunbury fifth in 3yo+ Class 1 grade was better, beaten just under two lengths by The Scholar. Back to 1500m, he has the profile of a place chance.

Returns from a six-month break after ending last campaign with a fourth at Narrogin, beaten two lengths by Magic Mikey when she led into the straight before tiring late. She had been fifth at York five days earlier after racing keenly and only battling home. Would need to improve.

    Verdict
Comes back on a quick turnaround after finishing sixth in a 2yo+ Benchmark 48+ over 1200m at Mingenew, beaten three and a half lengths without a clear excuse. He had won his previous start at Junction in a 3yo+ Benchmark 48+, beating Costa Star by a neck, so there is some recent form to work with. Junction win two back gives him some hope, but the 1500m and good-track record temper confidence.

Drops back from mid-week company after finishing second last in a 3yo+ FM Class 3 at Belmont Park, beaten just over six lengths at long odds. The run prior was also plain in 3yo+ Class 3 grade when unwanted in the market and beaten just over nine lengths. A minor placing is the most realistic target.

Had little impact from a rearward position at Carnarvon last start, finishing sixth in a 3yo+ Class 1 and beaten just over seven lengths by Addictive Dream. She was also safely held behind Swishgobango at Junction two back, but the move back to 1500m suits her record and blinkers go on first time. Place claims if she sharpens.

    Verdict
Resumed in a provincial 3yo+ Class 3 at Bunbury and finished last, beaten just over six lengths after beginning slowly and settling rearward. His Rockingham run before the break was much worse on the margin, but he covered ground and had some excuses there. Blinkers, claim and a recent trial give him a clear path to improve.

Was beaten over 13 lengths when last in a 2yo+ Class B at Mingenew last week after beginning only fairly. That followed a Carnarvon seventh in 2yo+ Class 1 grade where she led before being overrun and beaten eight lengths. Winning rider returns, but others present stronger claims.

Finished fifth in a 2yo+ Class B at Mingenew last week, beaten just under seven lengths at long odds, which was an improvement on his Geraldton run where he finished well held in 2yo+ Class 2 company. Others make more appeal.
