WEAPONS HOT (1) is favoured on the strength of his set-up rather than the bare last-start figure. He was last in a BM68+ at Carnarvon over 1200m, but comes back to 1000m, where his broader record is far stronger. He's already won at this track and trip and he makes the most appeal. CATCH THE RED EYE (2) is the danger easing out of Saturday company after a ninth at Belmont Park, with his earlier NMW1Y run showing he can finish off when allowed to build. MARS MISSION (3) brings the cleanest last-start result, having beaten Coondle at Carnarvon, and the winning rider stays with him, though the Junction line through Weapons Hot keeps him just behind the top pair. SIZE MATTERS (9) resumes after a poor end to last preparation, but two wins in the past 12 months give him enough background substance to be included for the minors if he returns in better order. SUPER SUNNY (10) won't be far away.
