Verdict

Difficult to rule any of this lot out but the vote goes to FEVER DREAM, who shaped as if ahead of his mark when scrambling home at Warwick last month and Christian Williams's 8-y-o shouldn't have any issues back over a marathon trip. The form of Dexperts Opinion's latest Worcester success couldn't be working out much better, so he heads up the opposition, with the progressive Ki Woo rounding off the shortlist on reappearance.

Has been on a largely upward curve ever since switched to fences, winning 8-runner handicap at Cartmel (25.5f) in May before a fine second in valuable handicap at Uttoxeter the following month. Returns 3 lb higher and every chance he will be in the mix back over a marathon trip.

Likeable veteran with a quarter of his sixteen wins coming at Cartmel, latest in 5-runner event there (25f, good to soft) just under 7 weeks ago (plenty went his way). Also a standing dish in this race, winning 2023 renewal, 3rd in 2024 and last in 2025. Looks one to take on this time.

Added another win to his tally at Market Rasen on Boxing Day. Excellent third in Eider Chase at Newcastle (33f) next start and back to that sort of level when sixth of 11 at Haydock (3½m, good) when last seen in the spring, needing more emphasis on stamina. Percentage call is to look elsewhere.

    Verdict
Made a successful British debut in a handicap hurdle at Worcester in late-May and justified strong support after 12 weeks off when winning 6-runner handicap chase at Worcester (23f, good) just over 6 weeks ago. 3 next-time-out winners have come out of that so he's considered upped in trip.

    Verdict
Yet another good advert for James Owen, landing this race 12 months ago. A handful of creditable efforts since but hasn't fired on both starts this campaign, most recently at Uttoxeter in early-July. Only 3 lb higher than his last winning mark now but needs to brush up his jumping.

    Verdict
Built on encouraging return effort when winning 3m handicap chase at Warwick in March and having had a breathing operation after his next start, he shaped as if ahead of his mark when winning 3-runner event back there (25f, good to firm) last month. Previously placed over 3¾m so worth chancing.

    Verdict
Rattled off a quick-fire 5-timer in May/June (4 wins at Hexham). Runner-up last 3 starts, running well from marginally out of the weights in first-time cheekpieces in 4-runner event at same track (2½m, good to soft) last week. Yard in good order and looks worth a try over this marathon trip.
